IN FLEETING MOMENTS

This exhibition features the works of standout contemporary artists from around the UK. The work in this show captures the essence of subtle exchanges between humans or between humans and their surroundings.

Through these inspiring works, we meditate together on the precious yet often fleeting moments that we share during our short tenures on this earth.

Artists have also been asked to create works in response to the three poems below.

Morning

Night passes and gives rise to the morning glow

Our bodies lie dormant below its soft blanket of warmth

Birdsong nudging us in and out of our unconscious dreams

The world taking shape around us

We danced last night, as the fire roared and sparked

Our bodies entranced by the beats and pulses of drums and strings

Your friends held onto my hands and pulled me into the ring

That joy we felt was electric and warmth encompassed

Synchronised, as we danced and fell into each other arms

Alive, and at once, lost, in that fleeting moment

Time

You reached out and touched me that day

I held onto your finger, it curling tightly around mine

We met early in the morning, as the sun rose and showed us its face

But time has passed us by as it does…

We are no longer the beacons of light that we were,

Our skin a tapestry of summers gone by

Faded, but not decayed, that moment lives on in memories decades old

That magic touch, that glance from the corner of your eye

You left, but lingered on

Garden

Call me out into your wild world

I’ll dip my fingers into your earthly body

Isn’t it a miracle how we nurture each other?

Me with careful hands, water through droughts

And warming mulch to keep you safe from frosts

You with your sanctuary of calm for my busy mind

Pulling me in, I’ll get lost in your wilderness

Time stands still, yet days get lost in your grips
